Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 6 days a week in the heart of Clarksdale’s historic Arts & Culture District, Yazoo Pass is one of the most popular restaurants and gathering places in town.
With a just-rite tag line “Always Fresh, Always Friendly”, this is a deep south bistro set in what used to be the old F.W. Woolworth building that most all from these parts remember fondly from our childhood. (But, it doesn’t smell like popcorn and confections anymore, Yazoo Pass is attractive, clean, eclectic, and if there is aroma around, it’s from the good food coming fresh from the kitchen.)
There are pastries, both an expresso bar (Starbucks eat your heart out), and a salad and soup bar, and there’s a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, of course.
Breakfast (from 7 am to 10:30 am) features omelets, eggs, a “breakfast of champions”, gourmet French Toast, breakfast bowls of yogurt, granola and fresh berries, quiche, grits (of course), quinoa, bagels, sauteed spinach with pico de gallo… and fresh fruit bowls to boot.
Lunch (from 10:30 am to 5 pm) is Yazoo Pass’ busiest time of day, and you’ll find people visiting, out of town folks, business people, students, birthdays, and a weekly mahjongg lunch too (which doesn’t mean all know how to play it). The lunch menu features the soup and salad bar, more than a dozen specialty sandwiches (the cheeseburger and the shrimp po boy roll are terrific), and there are a half dozen or more food baskets, plates and combos too (the chicken basket is really good).
Dinner (from 5pm to 9pm) offers small plate appetizers such as crispy wontons, that chicken basket, stuffed mushrooms, chicken rolls, avocado, shrimp and seared tuna tacos, stuffed shrimp, and the fried asparagus spears are righteous! There is a special entree of the day, usually, and the dinner choices are chicken piccata, glazed salmon, seared ahi, sole meuniere, crab cakes, shrimp and grits (after all, this is the South) and filet and ribeye steaks. Dinner has sandwiches too, and the sides are rustic potatoes, shoestring fries, roasted asparagus or cauliflower, sauteed garlic spinach, con and black bean saute and roasted fingerlings.
And, did we mention the Yazoo Pass french fries? They give real reason for hyperbole (they’re the best)!
There are desserts too, including an apple crostata, a chocolate lava cake and a key lime tart.
Wine and beer is served.
hours of operation are 7am to 9 pm 7 days a week.
