Mississippi drivers will get new license plates this year to replace ones featuring the guitar of blues legend B.B. King. The state’s standard license plate is redesigned every few years, partly as a way of catching people who fail to pay their annual renewal fees. Drivers receive the new plate when they renew their tags. The new design being phased in during 2019 has three letters on the left, an off-center state seal with the phrase “In God We Trust” and four numbers on the right.
