Today’s song from Clarksdale, Mississippi, the birthplace of the blues and rock n’ roll.

Remembering British blues singer Long John Baldry on the day he left us in 2005, “Don’t Lay No Boogie Woogie on the King of Rock and Roll” was Baldry’s biggest U.S. hit.  It was recorded in early 1971, and released in June of that year.  According to legend, Baldry may have sung it while on the floor after partying on cognac and champagne with Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Elton John and others involved in the session.
