JACKSON, MS — Revenge Porn could soon become a recognized crime in Mississippi. A bill to set penalties for anyone who shares or publishes “intimate visual material,” such as nude photos, that were created with the intention of being private, heads to the house this week for consideration after being passed by the Mississippi Senate last week. Fines under the proposal would include a $1,000 penalty for intentional distribution of the material, $500 for unintentional distribution, and penalties of up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine for extortion related to intimate photos or movies.
