From WROX:
Yesterday’s meeting of the Clarksdale’s Public Utilities board was the final one for Freddie Davis. On Monday the city board appointed Adrian Allen to replace Davis on the CPU commission, and James Hicks will succeed Davis as chairman effective October 1st.
During the meeting commissioners approved a press release stating the board had not proposed or discussed a rate increase; however during their September 11th meeting the CPU board adopted a budget for next year with a 13.5% increase in total revenue, approximately $2.9 million. When asked if the new budget anticipates rate increases when the current rate study is completed, senior accountant Sheila Profit said “yes”.
The board will meet again next Tuesday at 2PM, possibly to announce a decision on the fate of General Manager Mark Johnson, CFO Steve Reed and communications director Chris Campos. The “CPU 3” have been on paid suspension since July 26th.
