The Coahoma County High School boys are three wins away from their third consecutive state high school basketball championship. The Red Panthers defeated New Site 65-45 on Monday to advance to the 2A quarterfinals and will play at Newton tonight; the winner of that game will play Bay Springs on Tuesday in the semi-final game. Meanwhile the Lady Red Panthers finish their season with 24 wins and 5 losses after falling 40-39 to Ingomar last Friday.
The Clarksdale High School boys were eliminated from the 4A playoffs with a 44-43 loss to Pontotoc on Monday and the Lady Wildcats exited the playoffs on Saturday losing 74-39 to Ripley. The Coahoma Early College boys lost their second round 3A playoff game to Yazoo County on Saturday by a score of 63-57, ending their season with 23 wins and 6 losses. The Lady Tigers were eliminated from the playoffs last week by losing their first-round playoff game to Alcorn (ALL-corn) Central 43-37.
