At Monday’s meeting Clarksdale’s mayor and commissioners received bids from Trustmark Bank and Planters Bank for $1.2 million in general obligation bonds. The funds will pay the city’s share of improvements, including new traffic signals, at three intersections on State Street and the bid from Planters Bank, with an interest rate of 2.58%, was approved
Also on Monday police chief Sandra Williams also recognized Corporal Kenny Harris and four other officers for actions above and beyond the call of duty for safely evacuating a mother and five children from their smoke-filled apartment on the morning of January 30th. Corporal Harris was also named the city’s employee of the month for February.
